What is Armenian lace? Can you tell us a little about the history of Armenian lace?
Armenian embroidery lace is created by tying special knots with a needle. It looks like a fine net. Armenian embroidery lace is made without preliminary drawings. The master knows the patterns. The Armenian embroidery lace has two origins: flat (Van embroidery lace) and folding spatial (Karin embroidery lace). Armenian lace is very delicate, but because it is made of strong knots, it retains its appearance even if one of the knots is worn or damaged. Traditional embroidery schools are named after the regions of their creation, spread and development. In the 19th century ին At the beginning of the 20th century, the centers of the creation of Armenian embroidery lace were Van, Karin, Ayntap, Constantinople, Kars, Akhltskhan, Alexandropol, Yerevan, and others. To make Armenian embroidery lace, I need a thin needle, fine silk or cotton thread, great love, and patience. In 2017 I attended the Teryan Cultural Center and studied there with Lusine Mkhitaryan. My guide knows a lot of Armenian lace non-Armenian embroidery, and she teaches it to us.

How did embroidery lace change you?
Before attending classes, I embroider with a khachkar, because I am an artist, from working with any material, my work turns into a painting. When I learned the patterns of Armenian embroidery lace, I decided to create a picture, "Birth of lace." I realized that embroidery lace is becoming the finest thing in the world. I am refining myself while working. And no matter how tired I am, as soon as I take the lace in my hand, I feel light and delicate.
Is there anyone else who inspires you in your work? Who inspired you to become a lacemaker?
I mostly rely on my imagination, but my first inspiration was my teacher, Lusine Mkhitaryan. I get so excited about everyday and share with my facebook friends and parents.

You are trying to convey something with the help of your art.
I try to create new works of art with Armenian embroidery lace patterns: portraits, compositions և sculpture (with Karin embroidery lace). I admire the laces created by our ancestors, and I try to give a new one so that our successors can see the development of lace as an art. According to Armenian lace makers, what I do does not have such an example.
What advice would you give to people who are new to the art?
Most of all, I would advise them to approach their work with great love and wait for the end with great patience. I kiss the thread when I do my work. It can take more than five months to do one job. It is necessary to learn the annual patterns, to apply the imagination.

Ամենից շատ խորհուրդ կտայի մեծ սիրով մոտենային իրենց գործին, մեծ համբերությամբ սպասեին ավարտին: Ես իմ աշխատանքները գործելու ընտացքում համբուրում եմ թելը և կարող է մեկ աշխատանքի գործելը տևել 5 ամսից ավել: Անհրաժեշտ է սովորել տարական նախշերը և դիմել երևակայությանը:
